Check the Beat- Round 2

Next

This is the same as Round 1 only faster with more “chunking” or grouping.  Recognizing larger clusters of sounds will increase the “time span” of sounds they can hear at one time (similar to “visual span” for vision, a term used by Barbara Arrowsmith-Young*).  This will in turn help with auditory working memory.  This is also a good opportunity to tie in math skills.  Once again, they may not be ready to count beats and the number of drums at the same time.  They can do just the beats, or the drums as a separate exercise, or the number of drums on the repeat (all are given twice).
